The grip of cold with Monday looming
Seems like it was just Friday with the whole weekend still ahead. But no, it is Sunday and the weekend is waving in the rear view window at me.
Saturday saw W. and I running errands and such. Didn’t get at much homework. This morning I put some time into planning what I needed to do this week and how I was going to do it. Had a group meeting on campus1 then spent the rest of the afternoon working on a paper due Wednesday. So much reading and writing and thinking. Hold on brain.
The paper I wrote explores the idea of motivation as it relates to blogging. I (attempt to) draw on an article we read in class having to do with fairness among primates. Research done in this article suggests that primates encourage fairness through acts of envy, conflict avoidance, and resentment avoidance. This is curious and made me wonder what sorts of acts motivate bloggers in the blogosphere. Is the shared commodity the reader and do bloggers motivate readers to read other blogs…and could this somehow reinforce reader loyalty? Ack. My brain. This is Sunday night for Pete’s sake2.
So with that I retire for the evening. Pondering the situations of my classmates, my blogmates, my real and digital sangha. The future starts tomorrow.
Image: I took this from the 3rd floor of West Hall on central campus a week or two ago. It was crazy cold that day, but today was colder. And there was more wind and snow. You can see the ice puddle. How those leaves stay green is a mystery to me.
