In the game, a new year
Looking for something to listen to while I organize my thoughts, I settle on Pink Floyd’s, The Great Gig in the Sky. I was introduced to this song by an older brother who used to listen to this album through giant lurking speakers rumbling out crystal sweet clarity while he fell asleep. Good stuff…
That same brother gave us a nice gift this past weekend. He filled his minivan1 with family and drove down to visit. I’m amazed at how fast his boys have grown. W. pulled out photo albums that showed her and I with these boys when they were teena weena babies. It was nice watching my mother and sister-in-law look through them, laughing and smiling. We had a good time.
Over the last number of days I’ve played a fair share of card games, Scrabble, and Yahtzee. W. has some freakish mastery of Yahtzee and always wins. I think she is secretly a math genius.
School starts in less than two weeks. I’ve started to review the syllabus for the course on managing IT organizations. The theme for Winter 2009 is the impact of Web 2.0 technologies on business-IT alignment, IT architecture and services, and IT goverance. Very fitting as I wander in awe through the vast openness of opportunity and fertile possibility for those in the field of human-computer interaction.
This next semester could demand more from me than ever before. The two classes are deep and fast rivers of subject matter. I’m looking forward to the battle.

Get done with school already! We need to start the golf season.
Golf season…seems so far away right now. *sigh*
Thanks Spike and Wendy….we all had a great time and are very impressed with what you have done with your place. You and Wendy have worked hard to make that place a home…kudos, job well done….we all felt very comfortable there. Thanks again.
