Happy New Year: The Year of the Rat

According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2008 is the year of the rat1. A Rat Year is a time of hard work, activity, and renewal2. I was born during a Rat Year, so this is a good sign for me. I’m expecting a lot of myself this year.

Last night W. and I stayed up playing games and such. At one point our cat took a keen interest in something outside and we first thought it was another cat wandering by our back windows. We turned on our outside light to find this guy looking for something to eat. Though it looks like a rat, it is actually an Opossum. Being a devout animal lover, W. was quick to put out a pile of nuts in case he was hungry. Mr. Opossum came back a couple times to enjoy the free new years chow.

A couple days ago W. and I were invited to go see The Lion King at the Detroit Opera House. It was an amazing show. Very nicely done. Thanks so much Dawn, we really had a great time. It was nice to meet Bruce and I sure appreciated him driving. Driving in Detroit isn’t something I enjoy. C., you’re fun to be around as always. It’ll be a drag if/when you move back to Chi-town.

Tomorrow we go back to work. Classes also start this week. And I can tell you, I’m ready for both. Though the time off has been nice and we’ve done some organizing and such, I’m ready to get back into things. I’m ready for some hard work, activity, and most importantly, renewal. I like the new year. Who doesn’t like a fresh start, a chance to dust yourself off, renew your efforts, yourself, and your goals?
