First midterm exam
This Friday will bring with it my first midterm exam at SI. I’ve been studying moderately hard and have attended the review sessions. But you never really know how these things are going to go. The homework assignments have varied from challenging to academic. There has been a bit of inconsistency with the grading and feedback which results a bit of confusion. With so many GSIs and two professors, I suppose that can happen. Overall, I’m optimistic about this exam. I will review lecture slides, section handouts, notes, and my homework assignments again tomorrow night and call it good.
Here we are already in the later half of February. We’re edging toward that odd month of March. March is one of those months that is hard for me to remember for some reason. Perhaps because its in the middle of winter…or because its an odd month. I’m not sure really, but March is just a very low-key, nothing-special type of month. Maybe this year it will be different.
Speaking of March, I almost went to work for a company called “March 1st” a few years back. A very edgy and sassy web design and consulting business based in Grand Rapids. I had a solid interview and could have taken a job there but backed out for various reasons. A year or two later I learned that they had shut their doors. Kind of funny too because when I was there I asked about longevity and how they felt they would weather the challenges of the industry. I got this story about how they were two separate businesses, both strong and stable, and that their merging added to that stability. That was a close call. I almost moved to Grand Rapids.
