My life for many years has been web development, client/server systems, database design, and programming. I am an information forager, an investigator, a researcher, a scientist, a seeker, but most importantly, a purveyor of ideas and innovations.

A few years ago I decided it was time to expand my technical skills and focus on understanding human-computer interactions. I returned to school as a part-time student at the University of Michigan to pursue my Masters degree at the School of Information.

Since 1997 I have worked in the computer software industry. In 2006 I began graduate school as a part-time student and continued to work full time as a software developer. In April of 2010 I completed my Masters degree requirements.

EDUCATION

While in high-school I attended the Traverse Bay Area Career-Tech Center program for commercial art. Through this program I was awarded a full two year scholarship to the local community college. I received an Associate of Science degree from Northwestern Michigan Community College then transferred to Central Michigan University in Mt.Pleasant where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Technology. The Computer Technology degree is a dual specialization combining Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

PROFESSION

After graduating from CMU in 1997 I was hired by an information corporation and have worked there ever since. At the moment I am Lead Programmer in the Web Services Development department. My work involves programming, database development, system architecture, system administration, interface development, code maintenance, etc., generalized as diverse circumstantial problem solving. Beyond the cool technical stuff, it is challenging and involves critical thought about people, information, technology, behavior, attitude, culture, and processes.

I have a great job but am not stopping there. I’m constantly looking for opportunity and ways to improve the design and usefulness of our world. My resume is ready.
