Laying low on Presidents Day

Didn’t have to work today. I wasn’t feeling the greatest over the last few days and spent a good part of the day laying around trying to catch up on some sleep.

This last week I’ve been feeling kind of run-down. The weight of winter is heavy and I’m getting tired of it. I’m very much looking forward to spring and some warmth.

Watched a show on the presidents with W. tonight and we both found ourselves learning details about past presidents. Look at us, learning and stuff from our television.

Though it is early, it is time for me to crash. I’m fighting a cold or something and look forward to a good night’s sleep.

I’m trying to gather reader information. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to complete this survey.

Image: I included this in a post recently but felt it should be a post shot itself. It sums up how I’ve been feeling lately; whipped. I took this shot of myself on the floor in the library last week. I had 30 minutes to spare before a group meeting and decided to take advantage of it by catching a quick nap.

Kind of interesting.

After I saved my post last night I clicked on a link to one of my related posts. My Mother had left a comment that I don’t recall seeing before. I left a comment to her comment (4 months after the original). Why not? It may be unlikely that she’ll see it, but she might.

From there I clicked on a post that I remember writing. After reading it, I found it was my first blog post ever! It was also when I was considering using Serendipity as my blog back end. But then I found WordPress and it imported my one or two Serendipity posts.

Time to go to work.

Valentines Day Heuristic Review

I spent some time this morning reviewing a paper for 6221. This ended up making me a little late. I noticed W. leaving a little earlier than normal. When I got to work what was waiting for me? A vase filled with delightfully smelling flowers. Orange, white, and green (masculine W. said). What a nice change of pace. I hadn’t got W. flowers but had thought about it then promptly not thought about it…so many spinning plates and all.

There was searching under sink cabinets at work until I found a vase2. Then some artfully arranging of superfluous flowers from my bunch after which delivery to W.’s office where she promptly gave me shix for my maneuver (though I think it was genius). It was what I’m calling a “creative” approach. As I learned this week in 6883, creativity is typically recognized as behavior outside the normal mode of thinking. Not so a bad a definition I guess. She tried it, I tried it. All good. Pew, pew, pew.

So yes, it is Valentines Day. Nearing 11 PM, it is time to finish this post. I settled into school work about 2.45 hours ago and W. has been to bed for about an hour or more. She’s good to me and doesn’t give me much shix about working in the moonlight4.

The end result of this year’s Valentines’s Day: a couple new (and very nice) shirts, an awesome book, a bottle of yummy Rye, and the love of a wonderful woman. Nielsen would be proud.

Image: This is a scanned, cropped, photoshopped (SCP’D) image of the book W. bought for me. It is cleverly written and promises to educate me a fair bit on whiskey, bourbon, scotch, and rye.

The weight of the winter sun.

Today was bright and beautiful. Very much winter. Slush and ice everywhere.

Class was interesting today. The subject was belief and how it relates to memory. You’d think I’d be all over that, belief being one of those subjects that I could go on and on about. But alas, not tonight.

Moonlighting as a student necessitates late nights and early mornings. After class today I had a half hour until a group meeting. I found a little corner in the library way back in behind rows of ceiling high bookshelves and took an Edison 20 minute nap. It felt good. But dang, I’m still tired. I think working my brain so much might be making me tired.

Like Lennie says, “…I’m always on run.” So is this farmer whose blog I found recently.

If you haven’t seen, I’ve put together a survey as part of my research into readers in the “blogosphere.” If you have a moment, maybe you’ll take my survey?

Here comes tomorrow. I’m going to wait for it over there…in my soft warm bed.

First thing. I have to come clean and say that I painted this picture shortly after Christmas. I did a few practice pictures. Then school started, alas.

Met with the professor from my psychology class today to chat about school, the class, and life in general. I’m sure I babbled most of the time about meaningless incoherent, obliquely related topics that only I appreciate. I do that sometimes. The class is interesting so far. Her easy going and friendly attitude makes it that much better.

We are studying surveys for my evaluation of information systems class and I’ve put together1 my first reader survey.

If you have a couple minutes (literally, it is short), I would appreciate hearing from you. This is completely anonymous, very short, and accessed via a secure web address. I’d like to hear from you.

Click here to take my survey please.

Image: You already know this isn’t a fresh painting from this month. But it is one of winter and the past few days have been crazy winter like. Brrrr.
